Thanks buddy! Your posts are great. I had fun reading them.
The next stop on Ginger's adventure will be in Northern Illinois. I am a member at the "exclusive" 4th Lake Hunt Club. I say that as a joke, we're a motley crew. A blend of working stiffs and retired working stiffs. If you're from the area, and are familiar with the Grass Lake style of hunting, it's similar to that. Lots of blinds stuffed into a small lake. 4th lake is a mile and a half east to west, half a mile north to south. Eight blinds in the club, and three private blinds on the lake. If a bird flies within a mile of the lake it has ten calls screaming at it.
If there weren't the hunting on it, it would be a roost and loaf lake, no real food on it. There are a few fields around, that are in some stage of combining. Some years, it attracts the geese, others it's been ducks. Last couple, we've been shooting more ducks than geese. A decent mix of divers and puddlers. I've shot just about everything but a wood duck and a black duck there.
We will have five guys hunting over the decoy, Saturday and Sunday. Something will be shot. Not sure what though. I do know the numbers will not be that impressive. I use to taking the decoy to Canada with me. Get spoiled up there. I hope we kill six birds, I'd be happy with that. Not sure what the winds are going to be on Saturday and Sunday. Our blind is on the North side of the lake facing south. I' have been asking to turn it to face east for five years. I always get outvoted. Nobody wants to look into the sun. I'd rather kill birds and have to deal with the sun.
The road to diabetes will be sweet.
