12 and 20??

Postby DrakeRoth22 » Thu Oct 17, 2013 7:27 am

SO right now i shoot a franchi i 12 and i like the gun. i also like the sbell and the franchi affinity.. so i was wondering if i should get the affinity in 20 ga. for next year for dove and teal till regular season. for dove and teal i shoot 2.75 out of my 12 so just wondering if anyone shoots a 20 guage for teal and dove and ducks. and thinking a sbell for geese and once big ducks start comin shooting 3.5 makes a diffrence with more pellets?

An oldtimer at my club asked me why I shoot 3 1/2" shells? I said cause they don't make 4". You're talking about fine guns, that will suit all your needs.

So just go with the sbell and shoot 2.75 for early teal and dove and shoot 3 in 2 for ducks and geese and 3.5 for goose hunts?

Instead of spending all your money on those fancy guns why don't you buy a better trailer :fingerhead:

I like guns. You can never have too many. But if you want just one, the SBEII is a fine piece.

Balisitcly there is very little difference between a 12 and a 20, just a smaller payload. Be unique, shoot a 16

I shoot an I-12 and an I-12 only... best mid grade gun available.

A season or two after HK imported the first SBEs, I tried one and liked it so well that I soon bought a Montefeltro, the only 20ga Benelli then made, for upland birds and teal. Over the years since, the SBE has become pretty much a goose only gun, while virtually all of my duck hunting is now done with that same handy little Montefeltro 20.

So it's safe to say I think you'd enjoy the little gun. But also know that I've not shot more than a small handful of 3 1/2" shells through my SBE in well over a decade. 3" 1s are my goose loads of choice, and if anything happens to the SBE, I'll replace it with a 3" M1 or M2.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

Hmmmm........................ I had a young guy ask me why I don't shoot a 3 1/2" 12 ga instead of a 20 ga. I said "because I don't NEED a 12 ga 3 1/2" to kill birds.................... :lol3: :lol3:

Normally I use my 20 ga O/U for everything but I have a bout 2 cases of assorted steel shot for my 12 that I want to get rid of so that is what I have been using this year. But I still get as many birds with the 20...maybe even more..

I was mostly joking. Haven't bought 3 1/2 in a couple years. Just don't need it.
