RC car charger on mojo batteries

Postby aunt betty » Thu Oct 24, 2013 9:38 am

A charger like this will charge a mojo battery quick.
90 minutes or less instead of all night.
Its for radio control car batteries, has variable rates, and peaks.
If I were using many mojos Id use one for sure.
It runs on 12 volts dc.
I can charge batteries in my boat.

Just got to make sure you dont exceed the charging rate of the battery and fry it.

10-Amp rate will do it in ten minutes... :sarcmark:

I turn it all the way down which is 500 milliamps or 250 if I use a resistor that came with the charger.
The chargers mojo sells are 50 milliamps but take 14 hours.
The 500 milliamp rate seems to be just fine and...the peak function keeps from overcharging and boiling the battery.
It is ten times quicker.

So far I have not observed this Matt. The thing that ruins batteries is half-charging them etc.
Bad habits.

Good habit...Run your batts down fully and then charge them fully.
The get a "memory" and it can be bad if you dont maintain a battery right.
If I thought this was a bad way to do it, never would have started another lame, random, thread.
That Tekin peak charger is designed to charge 4-cell to 14-cell packs.
It is very high tech and works fantastic.

The cheap chargers with timers....no.
Peak charger with variable rates, yes.

My charger is from before lipo exploding batteries where you gotta have a SAFE bag and special box to keep em in.
Its 20 years old. Things change and yeah, the newer ones are way different.
Good point. Very good.
