I have decoys and all the needed gear, please be so kind to point me in the direction of those ducks. I'll even pay you if they are still there and I'm able to shoot some.

over 500k ducks used to be common place.. all with in about 3 miles of us.. at times the counts peaked at over a million, but now 250k would be a wet dream..

There aren't 500,000 ducks in all the state refuges combined here.

i think it is a combination of things.. cooling ponds up north. lack of snow cover. lack of long lasting cold. no-till farming. more refuges. more crop left devoted for waterfowl..

at one time, there was a count with several hundred thousand canadas.. now, we would be lucky to see 100 canadas in a season..

the year that we had all the canadas, a pit in the field out infront of us killed over 1200 geese that year.. the pit has since been neglected for so long, it has caved in.. used to be all about the geese here... we were the first ones to adapt, and no one in the area has caught up.. plus the birds have imprinted on us and the refuge for so long, the people that have tried to copy us have not enjoyed the same success.

yea, but you can't really complain any more than i can..

i know not to trust counts though.. our best year numbers wise was the year the refuge counts were the lowest recorded.. any given count was between 3 and 5k.. (on the state) i could, and still can, only shake my head on that one.. but our roost was consistantly about double that all through the season till late jan.. we killed exactly 98 ducks and 5 geese the last week. and we had to hunt HARD to get that..

no.. i have dug and dug, but have not been able to find anything older than 09 i think.. short of e-mailing the feds and requesting the info, idk if it is possible.. but then you would also need to get in touch with twra and get their counts.. teh feds did not even post counts for reelfoot nwr last year.

Yeah I have looked too. The counts lately have been pathetic, I know its a budget issue with TWRA but the Feds??? I have an exec level contact with the Twra I will see if he can get them..

Not bad, but it gives me little hope of seeing any puddle ducks tomorrow am.

Weird year as I think we've only dropped one or two gaddys
