Rio is a trooper and doing incredibly well, but remember, dogs don't go on the bow.

That was a close one. Almost cut his balls off.

But seriously.. must have been a terrible event. Glad to see he's doing well.

Makes me shudder thinking about all the times I've been up in the bow of a boat under power. Have even been pulled over by the water cops for it.

I'm getting wiser as I get older, but it's only by the grace of God I've made it this far. Be smart and be safe everyone. Thanks for the reminder Bhop!
First off, we need to get our story straight.

He's not mine, a buddy's dog.

He was hit by a trp lower unit (That's two counter rotating props) on a flats boat after getting bounced off the bow. He's a lucky dog, and I can't believe how well he's moving around 10 days later.

Luckily down here, nobody hunts out of a boat. Plans are a full return eventually....

I hunted a tripod for years. It was a different story. He got hit by a car and I tried to get it fixed, which caused nerve damage. He couldn't feel his leg, so he drug his toe until it caused sores, which got it infected. Apparently, the dog was unhappy with the smell, so he chewed his own leg off (in my house). I spent a lot of money on peroxide, towels, and carpet/upholstery cleaner that weekend. Anywho, vet chopped the rest of his leg off. Funny part was that the vet was a friend, who called me an hour after the surgery, to tell me that he took the dog outside to let him pee as soon as he woke up, and once outside, the dog tried to hike the wrong leg and fell down. Losing a back wheel doesn't slow em down much if their hips don't give em problems.

The pisser about it is that he wasn't even on the water at the time. He was in a patrol car along the river. I suppose I could have just waved at him and kept on going.
