Girlfriend Done Good

Postby shadowwalker » Mon Dec 16, 2013 10:58 am

We were out field hunting for geese yesterday with zero duck decoys out. Action slowed up, a couple guys left to get food and pick up a couple other guys. My girlfriend, me, and another buddy stayed behind. Our buddy was out in the field by the decoys (still don't know why), and a mallard was locked up coming in fast head on. I tell him there is a duck and he needed to get out of the way. He runs well out of the way and hits the snow. The bird stayed locked in. I shot all three shells at him and missed. My girlfriend was using my spare BPS (her mom was using her Sx3 in a different field) and forgot the safety was on the back, and finally managed to get one shot off. She hit him, and then forgot it was a pump, so that was here one and only shot, but he flapped his wings twice and took a header into the snow.

So our buddy was already part way out there, and starts heading to it. In the mean time geese keep locking up. So it took 10 minutes for him to get to the duck. He picked it up and came halfway back before more geese locked up and he stopped again, calm as could be. I jokingly yell to him "Is it banded?" Still as calm as he could be, he said "let me get the hell out of this field so these geese will stop flaring." He gets back to the tree line and asks "Who shot last?" I told him it was my girlfriend. He said that it was hers because the last shot was the one that hit. He handed it to her and when he let go of the leg, it was banded.

We had a rough season, and she couldn't get out as much as I did, working and going to school full time. This is the only duck she shot this year

This is the first banded duck that any of us have seen in hand, and it is a great looking drake on top of being banded.

Good for her!

Does she have a sister??

Yup, but she is the complete opposite. My girlfriend got her first deer when she was 10. Her sister wants nothing to do with hunting anymore.

Any bikini shots? I'm not quite sold yet.
