Hybrid mallard?

Friend shot this today. Was with a hen mallard. Really has wood duck drake influences.

It didnt have any curl feathers or white band around neck.

Cool bird. A few years ago I shot a mallard x pin and did the same thing as your buddy. Cleaned it and ate it. All I have left are a few Facebook photos and a wing

When in doubt, wrap it in 3 plastic bags and stick it in the freezer! :rolleyes:

What is the proper protocol for that?

I've heard saran wrap, aluminum foil, plastic bags, etc...

We do both foil and plastic...

A sealed plastic bag, and remove as much air as possible. I don't see foil buying you much.

If its going straight to the taxi it doesn't much matter as long as you don't beat it up.
