Only open water around here is the faster moving parts of the rivers and creeks. Duck season ended just in time. Just think how froze up we'd be without global warming.

It's having the opposite effect for us out here in ca. Driest warmest year On record. 8 inches of rain for the year. We have 3 weeks left in our 110 day season. I have had one hunt this year in bad weather. Oh it's 73 here today.

I've hunted 15 days this year and have yet to shoulder my gun. I won't even bother with these warm blue bird no wind days.

If it's wasn't for the resident geese, this year would be a bust. We have been smacking them
Good but I need to shoot some ducks.

great days to stack up the nutrias or run the trot lines when we are at the camp...

I don't care where you hunt ducks, they don't fly on a blue bird day with no wind.

I only had that weather once in our 9 day last split. Hunted 6 of the 9 and did great on 5 of those 6. Scratched out 3 on the bluebird day. Hunted til 1:00pm that day.

One exception would be hunting green timber....blue bird days are better in the timber....usually...

Dead calm sunny days a little wind was good also but we had some great hunts when it was calm and clear. This was in the Calif. delta .

Could be the hunting pressure here, but dead calm is the kiss of death here....sunny and dead calm is worse, unless it is in the 20's.

Lol that's how my Aussie looks with dead birds too
On bluebird days, I go spot and stalk the ducks on the rivers. Kayak in and you'd be suprised
