I struggle with the prayer thing, trowlan, but sincerely hope for the best outcome for your daughter and your family, and she will be in my thoughts. Does she have a name yet?

it seems you struggle with tact and reading comprehension also
Buy it, use it, break it, fix it,
Trash it, change it, mail - upgrade it,
Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it,
Snap it, work it, quick - erase it,
Write it, cut it, paste it, save it,
Load it, check it, quick - rewrite it,
Plug it, play it, burn it

I thought the name was his wife's and the problem could affect the birth. My mistake. As far as the tact, I was attempting to express empathy from a non-religious POV. What, exactly, do you find tactless in that?

If you consider that as tactless, I would recommend that you go back to reading fairy tales. You seem like the type that needs something to lean on.

Jim,

My wife's name is Greer, and daughter's is Carolyn. No worries on the prayer, and I do appreciate your well wishes.

My wife did go to the appointment today, and had blood work and other tests done, but we won't find out anything for a week and a half. Also, apparently, there isn't anything that can give a definite positive until birth. We will be able to rule it out if one of our sweat tests comes back negative, ruling us out as a carrier. Everything else checked out fine though. I'll keep everyone posted. Again, thank you for the thoughts and prayers.

Thanks buddy. I just changed my post, as you were posting, to tone it down a little. It was a little knee-jerk. The last thing you need is an argument in this thread. But I do sincerely hope for the best possible outcome for your daughter and your entire family. And I apologize for any negativity expressed or perceived.

No offense taken from your statement. The well wishes mean more than differences in beliefs.

not trying to be the bearer of bad news but a sweat test is not 100 percent. the sweat test will only catch like 99 of the most common mutations and the are something like 1200 mutations. my daughter passed her sweat test but when they did the gene test they found it. will continue prayers for a healthy baby.

You are still in my thoughts and am still praying that everything will be ok.
Keep your head up brother.
If you want to chat , it might help you to know that my wife and I went through exactly what you are going through now, only it was in 1989. May God bless you.

Sending you some prayers from Georgia! I see that you're from North Augusta, I'm from right across the river. Hoping everything will be alright! Trust in the Big Man upstairs!

Yeah, nothing in medicine is 100%. My granddad (doctor) says "that's why it's called a 'practice'". Either way, we'll get through it. Thanks for the prayers!

Yeah, I'm actually from Vidette, GA (between Waynesboro and Louisville.) just live over here because my wife wanted to be closer to her moms family, and we felt we were getting more for the $ over here. I appreciate the words of encouragement!

Hey Guys! After 2 months of waiting, and the lab losing our blood samples, we finally got the test results back. They told us today that it isn't possible for our daughter to have CF! Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers!
