1911 or AR style rifle

Postby steve-o » Sun Feb 16, 2014 11:26 am

Which one first? I don't have either and can't have both right now. They would be for general use. Nothing specific.

AR you can hunt with and utilize more than a 1911.

My advice, build both. Just start ordering parts. I wanna build a 1911 just never have.

I would say AR. Get them while you still can. 1911 isn't going any where! Check out Cover 6 Gear AR-15 pistol.

I have both. The AR you can hunt with but little small for deer in the 223 cal. I hunt deer in Ky too damn hilly to chase bucks getting to old for that.

If you go 1911. Wilson Combat and Nighthawk Custom make really nice guns. Pretty long wait unless you get one off Gun Broker

AR. A pistol is just a way to get to a real gun.

If I had the money for a Wilson or Nighthawk I wouldn't be asking which type of gun to buy. :lol3:

That's how I see it. Other than concealed carry, a rifle is a far more useful tool.

Buy a "blem" lower for less than $100 and then buy the 1911 you want, 2 serial numbers with 1 stone

That's the spirit. And as far as building goes, super simple. YouTube is your best friend. Very fun to do also.

If you already have a handgun I would say AR hands down, more options down the road, ammo is a LOT cheaper.

But if you don't own a handgun you may like having a .45 in the house.

I have both and the AR gets way more use.

I use my ARs more than my 1911s, but my 1911s are for one purpose.

I don't really see Wilson or Nighthawk doing a lot of marketing there is a waiting line to get a new ordered pistol. All of mine shoot very tight groups have never failed to fire. They must be doing some thing correct

One thing for sure I haven't lost any money. My T3 Nighthawk now sells for much more than original price.
I understand all can't afford but you can save if you want it's what I did my whole life saved for things I wanted and didn't blow on the new gimmick every year. Some folks seem to downplay or envy folks who get something that other have.

I buy things and plan on them lasting. If they don't I get rid of. My 1911 are here to stay.marketers wet dream or not. Hand built in Ark seems ok to me

I voted for the 1911. Nothing like leaving powder burns on their clothing to get the adrenalin pumping.

My nighthawk is hands down a better firearm than my kimber.
