I am always looking in the antique shops around here and have found a few old carved dekes. Wish a couple could tell stories from the looks.

I have a buddy that's big into buying and selling decoys. He was at a estate sale, found a bunch of carved decoys. Picks up a mallard decoy, looks nice. Flips it over and sees the lead strip down the bottom. It says Charles Purdue and has a date. He said his knees started knocking. They had a price of $90 on it. He buys it thinking he'd hit the jackpot. Couple months later, takes it to a decoy show to have it appraised then sell. Shows it to a fellow and asks what it worth. He thinking ten grand or better. The appraiser said, it worth $85 bucks. There a guy at a table on the other side of the room selling those reproductions.
