I'm out. I don't know how much I'm going to be able to hunt the first two weeks.
I hope someday someone remembers this old dog with kindness and gives me to a puppy.

I'm hunting 3 days of the whole season, you surely can hunt more than that.

I'm not playing this one. so go beat yourself.

When a man is concerned over a 10 dollar internet contest it shows he has a fragile manhood. I don't understand but I will say I do...

The KY youth season was hard on me, birds in winter flocks yet 9 toms hammering and would not answer a call at all.

It's because he has been beat all 3 times he has challenged me, his emotions are very fragile at this moment. As for the birds that is par for the course seeing the weather we have had. Last week I saw toms breaking away from hens. Seen a few good flocks and several mature birds. I will hunt on my own Sunday and will be taking the lady out that week when I take a half day. They haven't been overly vocal but have had some that won't shut up. Young birds would be my guess, my big toms typically gobble once when they hit the ground and very quiet through most of the day. Won't have a chance to really scout much leading up to opener but should do just fine.

Same here with the way our birds are, this weekend on a public wma I have only hunted 5-6 turkey seasons we couldn't figure them out they seemed to have no pattern at all and wasn't in the fields and BIG groups. Here at home we know the roosting areas and the birds very well it isn't always a cake walk but when its not usually we can get on some... I will bow hunt my first two weeks when I can, doing so I have my Pops my mom my wife and 2 cousins kids I will taking also. Those are just the birds/hunts I line up with every year. it never fails to run into a buddy and call them one in also.

I'm NOT in. I feel like I will surely jinx myself if I were to join in.

BUt I wanted to share this. Our NC opener was this past Sat. My son went with my wife's step dad. 30 minutes into the season he shot his first bird. It was a good sized jake.
Me and my daughter were hunting another farm. It took a few hours longer but she put the smackdown on her 2nd bird ever.

Is there extra credit if you kill them with a hammer? I bought a new piece of property and these guys showed up. No fear of people at all.

Good job, glad to see kids in the field.
I went into the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Where are the largest turkey's to be found? I'm just getting in to turkey hunting myself. I start on the 30th. I'm just wondering how WI compares to the national average. We do pretty well with Whitetail.

Javelin,

Before I post up which turkey I am going to use as my official entry, what is the bonus for using a bow? The bird I killed with the shotgun scores 79 and the bow bird scored 61. I plan on posting the picture with the logo later.

Killed My best bird with a Bow scored 80, I have him on the wall. Killed several in the high 70s over the last few years. However its all just luck on how old a bird is when you shoot him always like finding a band when you see those 1-1/2" hooks.

I am posting my official score of 79.375. This bird had 3 beards totaling 24.5 inches, weighed 20 lbs. 6 oz. but only had .5 inch spurs, which I was disappointed about.

Bow bird came in at 21 lbs, 10 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Shot him with a bullhead.
