DU Banquet Raffle Prizes

Postby woodduck14 » Tue Apr 22, 2014 7:15 am

Looking for some input from everyone, I have a banquet coming up in June and want to get ideas on what people may want to see.

We have nine guns so far, a Versamax being the top one.

What are some good ideas?

A good idea is going to a Delta banquet instead
I hope someday someone remembers this old dog with kindness and gives me to a puppy.

What guns? Make sure they're good ones, nobody wants to win an 887 or something.

A case of shells, a nice call, or decoys are others things I wouldn't mind winning.

A nice bottle of DU label bourbon or something along those lines... Hand carved decoys, decoy weights, bags, etc. DU pint glasses/ shot glasses. A free hunt at a nice pit or lodge somewhere.

Being you are up North you could do a Winter Survival Kit. Echo Chainsaws is a DU supporter. We got a Single Barrel Jack Daniels DU edition and an Echo chainsaw and raffled it off.

Ammo is hardly ever given away, 2-3 flats of decent duck shells is good. Any local sporting goods stores? A good coat that they can exchange locally for one that fits, gift certificates get old in my book. Waders is good and boots, reckon you can buy them and then give the winner a certificate for the boots or waders instead of just a gift certificate. Optics are good, get a really good pair of binoculars and give them away or silent auction them.

This is the problem with DU. They give away a bunch of stuff for homes and offices. At least at ours. Chairs pictures watches magazine racks. We had 9 guns and one blind bag set. No decoys no shells no boot anything useful. Layouts would be nice Good calls. Call Zink they put you in a drawing with all the other DU committes that call. If you get chosen they send you stuff. We had 2 doz Big Al's silo (he's Local to us) I know they are just trying to raise money and the get stuff the wives would like. I bet at ours out of 125 people maybe 20 hunted. Filson will send you something we had a nice womans wool coat. Carharrt will donate we got some T-shirts. So will birddog whiskey, they sent enough that we could put 1 bottle on each table.

I agree along these lines. Quality stuff not junk. I wouldn't own a Remington and cheap guns (In any caliber) don't get any raffle tickets from me.

Basically common items where people have developed standards (favorites) aren't good items IMO. I already know what shells I want to shoot so that's no prize. Same with a gun.

While I agree with Botiz about the shells being a good prize, double check with your venue or other authorities before you purchase a lot of them. Several years ago, we bought a case of shells to give away at the banquet and just before the banquet began we were instructed to remove them from the building. The venue said they did not want the shells and all of the guns in the same room. Luckily we were able to print off picture and the winning person was able to get the shells after the banquet.
A small creek boat or decoys sled is also a good prize to have. We normally take one and fill it with decoys, blind bag, gun, and gun case. Sell tickets on it as a package.

Same here!!! I havent been to one in years!!! Waste!! Nothing hunting related really! The last one i went too gave away and henry 22 and muzzleloader  NOt even a cheap 870!! So I'm done.. Would be nice to have some decent hunting gear, clothes, etc.. I know you have to have stuff for home etc to keep wives entertained as well But dont make it a bunch of house junk!

BUt my biggest grip is that havent done one DU project in our area in the 15 years ive lived here!!!!! If everyone in my county that gave to DU would have gave it to me I could have bought a real nice wetland and it been open hunt..
