Disclaimor: As long as you know how to set your drag you won't break it.
The baitcasters, if correctly built are on spine and the spinning rod is built 180 degrees off spine.
I would think that if you are planning on using 30-50# line, you plan on putting a lot of pressure on the fish. Like was mentioned above the high set eyes (or guides if you'd rather) are going to make the job tough with that kind of pressure.
Why don't you just buy a blank and assemble what you want the way you want? It's not that difficult.
Most rods rated out to 50# are not considered medium, they're heavy or ex heavy.
