Fixing Cooler help

Postby Slack Tide » Sat Apr 26, 2014 1:40 pm

I've got a nice Igloo fishing cooler that I just discovered a dime-sized "pop" in the bottom. It's in the shape of a crescent moon and the tab is still attached. Anyone ever fix one of these?

Duct tape fixes every thing!!!!!!

Inside or outside?

Or try an epoxy maybe, or, silicone caulk?

It's inside.....I'm sure the water is getting into the foam insulation and it's just a matter of time......

I'd try regular gorilla glue or a two part epoxy. Let it cure real good before using. Worth a shot.

Scuff it up with emery cloth or sand paper then repair. I would use a inner tube patch, hell its a igloo its already ugly.

Another vote for 5200. Or 4200 if you need it in less than a week.

Or fiberglass, Slack. Put a piece of fabric down then a layer of fiberglass and you're good to go. Jeez, people drive Corvettes at 200 mph, I bet you're cooler doesn't go that fast! :lol3: Unless you throw it off a bridge!

FWIW, best way to repair hinges is to make your own out of an old 2" nylon strapping from a boat winch or old seat belt material. I simply trace the hinge, using a black sharpie to mark the holes, then cut out with sharp scissors, burn the edges with a match, then heat up a nail and burn the holes. put that on along with the old plastic hinge plates and boom-repaired better than store bought.
