I plan to try and get out and hunt some new country. In the past I have traveled around New Mexico staying in cheap hotels, this season I would like to branch out to Kansas and Texas. I have found it to be quite a challenge to hunt out of a hotel room. When I get back to the hotel I would unload all my gear into the cab of my truck, lock the boat trailer to the truck and lock the mud motor to the transom with a bike lock. Next I would clean my birds and sneak the muddy dog inside. After cleaning the mudd off the pup in the shower the bathroom is usually a disaster.
I have spent the summer working on my boat and saving $ for my mud motor. I am more paranoid than ever that someone may try and steal my rig while its parked overnight. I was thinking about using a tire boot on the trailer for peace of mind. After spending so much on that mud buddy I don't feel comfortable with my old bike lock method. I feel like my only option here is to chain the motor to the trailer?
Can anyone recommend a good easily removable truck bed camper cover? I would like to avoid fiberglass or aluminum. I want to use the camper cover to safely store my gear without having to get the interior of my truck super muddy. This will also allow some peace of mind when the rig is parked out of my sight.
As far as cleaning the pup, I found an attachment that allows you to hook up a hose to the end of the faucet in a bath tub. This should make cleanup easier and cleaner. The problem I've had is when the dog shakes before all the mud is off dirt gets on the walls and ceiling of the bathroom .
Do I need to start sending duck meat home to avoid being over a possession limit?
I curious if any of you have some creative tips to help a traveling water fowler with these issues and any others you may have encountered.
