Well after a close mishap, I have decided to get a full replacement bumper for my Ram 1500 ecodiesel. Here is a few options. Please feel free to voice your opinion on bumpers.
Check out road rhino have one on my 2nd gen ram really like it. You can also buy a pre cut kit from them and weld and paint or coat it yourself, if you want to save some money. They are already a bit cheaper then most of the brand's and have great service.
Seems to be a trend with the lifted mall crawlers and Cali Lean trucks. However they are fairly light weight, and will get rid of the plastic peace below the grill.
Anything without plastic on it. Used to be a bumper would withstand a reasonable impact and protect your body panels. If you got hit or hit something you replaced the $200 bumper. Now most factory bumpers are just for show and if you get in even a small accident you end up replacing a minimum of $1500 worth of body panel. Actually for a while Dodge used some pretty good plastic below their bumpers. In 20 years I only broke one air dam (winter) on my dodge trucks. I broke 3 in 3 years (also winter) on the chevy I had.
I can tell you DONT get an Iron cross... had a buddy with on his tundra and it folded up like taco when a car pulled out in front of him.
I like the first one. But I can also attest to a Ranch Hand being durable but they look awful. Another option would be a weld it yourself kit from MOVE bumpers for under $500, given you or a buddy has access to a welder.
I like the clean bull nose look but it does not protect the headlights and suck. I like the top right bumper
Because it gets rid of the plastic piece under the headlights. The bottom left also appeals to me but it keeps that little plastic piece. My z71 had an frontier bull nose.
Leave the mangled bumper on there. It shows people that you don't give two shuts that they are in front of you, cause if you can't dodge em, ram em, or whatever, and they will get out of your way.

In the last week I have almost hit 5 deer. I did have one hit the side of my truck. I had a frontier bullnose on my z71. Currently I'm torn on which one I should put on the Ram1500. Some bumpers are just way to gawky. I like the way the frontier (bottom left) looks but my insurance will not cover any part of that one. (it keeps the plastic piece) which is 300$ to have replaced. The iron cross, boondocks and fab4 all replace this plastic so 300$ will go towards the new replacement. I plain on adding a leveling kit along with some 10ply all terrains. I have recently grown old in my thought process.. Factory wheels look nice and I do not want to add a lot of money to a vehicle that will be sold in another year.
Funny thing about those bumpers, is when you hit a deer or car? They are going to cause more damage than if you had the stock bumper. Only one I have seen hold up well are the ranchhand or homemade one piece assemblies.
Seems a waste if you're not moving cows.
Not sure what you mean about insurance won't cover it.
Every policy should have a certain amount of custom parts and equipment, usually 500-1000. This covers things like grill guards, aftermarket bumpers, wheels, etc.
Unless your policy language is texas is different than the texas policies I see up here.

I will have to look into it further. The deer managed to crack the plastic piece on the bumper. The chrome part is 100% perfect.
I have centered a deer with my Frontier bumper and it did amazing. I do not know what bumpers you are comparing to. Majority of the new ones do have crush points which helps keep from turning a truck into a Battering Ram.
Thats my plan for this grand Cherokee, gotta wait Untill I can afford bigger tires first tho Bc stock everything and off road armor bumpers look silly
