Bein in the navy I tend to move around alot I noticed wherever I go its always called something different here in the northwest its pop, in southern cali its soda in the south its a coke. Even if you want a sprite you say "give me a coke"

Hey HW, I don't criticize every word, just the ones that you screw up. I am proud of your progress into adopting the true Southern dialect. A few others are skeeters (not the boat), taters, mama and daddy (none of this mom and dad, crap), chullen or younguns. I know that there are others, but that's all I got now.
If the hunting is cold, luckily so is the beer!

Yeah, I dont even really think about it. But more often than not I'll just call it Soda.

You try being married to someone who is always criticizing my every choice of words!

Ie. "Don't say firefly! It's a lightning bug!"

Or, "It's not a soda! It's a Coke!"

Or, "Stop saying pecan, it's pee-can!"

Or, "It's not a bulldog, it's a DAWG!" (I really am working on that one!)

And on and on and on! I can't help it if I didn't grow up in Jo-ja and lived all over the world with my Marine dad! I can't help being confused!

:umm: :hammering:

In the past 7 years I've lived on both coasts and in the midwest and my exp. has shown that on the west coast (Cali) they called it soda. I called it a "pop" one time and got some pretty stupid looks. East coast (NY) it was called sodar. Yes there was an "r" on the end of that. It's the NY accent I suppose. Here in the mid-west (MO), where I grew up and now live, it is either a pop or coke. Both are acceptable.

Soft drinks. Around here Coke means a Coca-Cola (pronounced Co-Cola of course). If you get anything other than a Pepsi or a Co-Cola (i.e.:Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper, etc.), everyone looks at you like "you ain't from around here, are you boy?"

I call them soda-pop before and during the hunt and then I call them barly-pop after the hunt and sometimes the next morning I feel like my head is going to POP. Mostly drink tea though soda rots your teeth out and makes you more thirsty.
I dont want to kill them all just the first one and the last one!
