Scouting Duck...the Easy Way

Postby Snaph » Thu Aug 11, 2005 8:37 pm

This duck scouting stuff is pretty easy. Never broke a sweat, no skeeters,
wife went with me, drove right to the spot, never even had to put the camo on. I just walked right up to them. And yes they are wild. Kinda

After the 35 pics I took, these were the best. My digital camera acts funny when the light gets low. These are marina ducks, wild but everybody feeds them so they just hang out. So I guess they don't count as real scouting. But it was still neat watching them. I will guess I saw over 200 ducks just driving around the bay and lake area. We were out about an hour or so walking the dogs.

Nice snafu, I would think you should put your blind up right on that red boat in the background, you should be able to slay them all season.

by the way don't forget your bread sack on opening morning. :toofunny:

still pretty ducks.
.....you've got to ask yourself a question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?

You guys are funny...or something anyway.
These ducks are fun to watch. (and listen to) Come hunting season, they are fair game (once the boats are all gone for the winter).
We hide on the break walls around this marina. Now I have to go take more pics to show perspective. That and I want to figure out why my camera is acting stupid. All my "duck butt" pics were blurry.

I took my son fishing up at this park on the potomac and the ducks and geese hang out there. The ducks where bad enough I was having to chase them away to stay out of the fishing lines.

good one Snaf. i like to go down to the local ponds and watch the birds interact with each other and listen to them 'talk'. we get tons of birds that fill up the numerous little ponds and watersheds around here each year. they are wild birds, but they come right up to ya when you toss out them bread crumbs.

I went down to a park on the river today and tried to run and grab one. They move pretty quick even when they look like they're sleeping. Just need to take some bread next time, then I could get one. Haha. Saw one drake mallard that was starting to get a very little bit of color.

OK you can't just walk up to them like that in the fall in that marina. For crying out loud. Bread bags and golf clubs.

You guys are a riot. You ever sit at the parks with binos and count jewlry? One day this girl walked by in a bikini and had this pissed look on her face, I didn't even notice her, I was looking at this duck when these legs walked behind the duck...... I think the duck was a mallard, or maybe it was a goose?? lol
