Who is the longest... and oldest?

Postby h2ofwlr » Mon Aug 29, 2005 3:46 pm

I saw this title on another site, it got me thinking... Yes I know that is dangerous. Anyway...

Who here at DHC has hunted the most seasons?

Who is the oldest (age) here?

I know I am not the oldest, but have hunted 38 seasons, it'll be #39 this weekend.

Interestingly, hunters are generally brought into hunting by parents/relatives at an early age, or brought in by a friend when in their 20s/early 30s

28 years old, 8th season waterfowl hunting. I've been hunting since 13 thanks to my old man. I remember the day I got to hunt with my first deer rifle.

26 and about 12 years since my first duck hunt, but only about 4 years seriously duck hunting, and something like 18 years hunting (toting a gun myself).
If the hunting is cold, luckily so is the beer!

38 years young, and have been duck hunting 10 years. I was a die-hard archery hunter before that, but I have the bug bad! This year I'm going to incorporate archery and waterfowl into the same hunt. I'm attempting to shoot a goose (in your face goose) with my bow and a string tracker. I figure in ten attempts I should be able to hit one. I've never shot a bird with a band, wouldn't that be awesome to shoot my first (banded bird) with the bow!

You guys's are making me feel old, I started when I was seven had a single shot 410 , wasn't tall enough to see over the front of the blind, so they had a milk crate for me to stand on. When a single came in I would climb up on the milk crate someone would cock the gun and give it to me so I could shoot. That was 52 years ago, I will be 60 in December.

My Dad started me out in the blind when I was 4,used to do a little retrievering since we didn't have a dog back then.I took hand signals pretty well but the water depth was a severe limiting factor as to were I could go,Dad handled the hard to get birds.
I'll be 44 next month so that puts me at 40 years and counting.
My lab is still the best hunting partner there is.
