Looking for a .45 handgun

Postby 2500hdon37s » Wed Jun 05, 2013 6:43 pm

I'm looking for .45acp/ auto handgun here in MO, preferably near Columbia, or within driving distance. I would really like a Rock island 1911, but will look at any 1911 or compact .45 handgun. cash in hand! shoot me a PM if you have one ti get rid of or know of somebody who does that is a clean (not a "hot") gun. new or used is fine with me as long as it is in functioning condition.

I won't sell mine, but you need to take a hard look at a springfield xds, amazing concealed carry 45. 1911's are awesome, but if you want a conceal gun, can't beat an xds.

Yea I'm looking at everything really. my buddy has an XD .45 (not 1911) and its nice but its a bit big and bulky for me. I'm not looking for a carry gun right now (not old enough for CC.) So its more home protection and just to shoot... and needs to be a .45 because I pretty much got 250rds of .45 ammo for free and I would like to get into the handgun world. Not to mention the 1911 is one a gun that draws me in... and I do have some experience with them, just down own one.

I'm looking at RIAs also. Tacticals in particular. I've shot a GI model and liked it, but I think I'd like the extended beavertail as I did get a little pinch. I've seen some nice Springfields/Colts and some super nice Ed Browns, but that's more than I want to spend on one right now. Good luck on your search and post up what you end up with and how you like it.

Thanks! I have really enjoyed the one mag I've got to put through it so far! :lol3:

I've already started doing some tinkering with it as I do with most of my guns! (mmm yea I'll let my $600 10/22 speak for that habbit!) I've polished the barrel, trigger bow, disconnect, and hammer. I've picked up a Chip McC mag, new grips, WC hex grip screws, lighter sear spring for a lighter trigger pull, Wolff recoil and firing pin springs. along with a few hundred rds of ammo! :hammer:

Unless I'm mistaken, that is a tactical model, without rail though. Extended beavertail. Can't tell if its got Novak rear sight though. What is it HD?

I am not super familiar with their models, I was under the impression that all of their tac models had the rail...I am probably wrong.

Idk for sure either but I am curious. It could be a GI that's had an extended beavertail installed. Too hard to see the sights.
Edit. Also noticed upon looking closer that it has a skeletonized hammer but nonskeletonized trigger.

Though confusing, I'd like to have one like it. Nice using piece.
