Postby goosetalk » Tue Sep 26, 2006 10:10 am

Get'n everything together this week. The farmer is cut'n the corn at just the right time. Haven't seen many geese yet, but they're starting to trickle in from Illinios. How's everyone else's opener look'n???

Not looking go so far. I have not seen a single flock. I'm going Thursday do some some final scouting. If I don't see anything I think I'm going to go hang my try stand. I'm going to check my old stand-by where there are two irrigation lakes. Can't hunt the lake but I can hunt the land around them.

It is looking pretty good here. Going to take my daughter out, and might even try myself. Had the go ahead from the doc if I felt like I could take the recoil

We brushed blinds at the club Sat. and had quite a few low flying small flocks. I'll be out there Sunday evening.

I'm rdy. I have 10 -40 giants coming in to my pond every day. Should be some great hunting.
I'll start treating my wife as good as my dog when she starts fetching ducks.

Anyone shoot any geese? We went out anyway. Saw a few and tried calling them in with no luck. The dogs had fun sloshing around in the mud though.

It is too warm. The birds just weren't moving.

Got a few

Postby cride1 » Tue Oct 03, 2006 11:57 am

My father-in-law went out Sat. morning and was able to scratch three out of the sky. I really can't say we did our part to controll the local goose poulation, but better that nothing. Probably saw two dozen, but these were the only three we could get in.

Way to warm. I tried Sun. evening and saw one large group flying and that was it. The week before, when it was about 60 for a high, we were covered up in geese at the same spot.

A buddy of mine managed to scratch out 15 Sat morning though. Wish I could've been there for that one.

We went out last week and did pretty good.,, But we went out today and heard alot flying around us but to no avail..But we are not complaning because last weekend reminded us why we do what we do.. It got our hearts thump'n out of our chest and made us just that more anxious for the REAL Season to start.
