Any sightings?

Postby sehunter1 » Thu Aug 01, 2013 8:18 pm

Was driving past the pond today and saw 7 teal. I'm used to seeing local ducks on our pond but when I saw the size I got out binocs and sure enough all teal. It seems really early, anybody else noticed an early flight?

Yea, if I were you, I'd just give up on big ducks too. They'll be south of us by the time the season starts too.

Pretty sure the teal will be around during season, they always start migrating in August. Every Year! I saw them last year first of Aug. and the year before, and before that. and I think the years before those as well.

:clapping: (not to mention we have already been told there isn't going to be any food for the ducks, we might as well all start heading south if we want to hunt.)

Was at duck creek CA Sunday, there were about 30-40 BWT in the big main pool, pool 1, a lone Canada goose, and a pair of shovelers. the teal were in groups of pairs, up to like 4-8 birds per mini flock.

I have been building my blind and a buddy of mine was picking a board up out of the pile and he swears it was a cotton mouth. This was two weeks ago. He lived and hunted in Texas for 20+ years and swears it was one. This property on a small lake is up around Ellsberry, MO. I'm not originally from here and I got on a MO site and the map shows we are too far north to have them. I saw a large water snake this week and II bet that was what he saw. What say you?

Scouted around this morning since my dove field isnt ready. Saw a whopping total of ONE grebe. This could be a sad september fellas. Gotta hope I drew my managed goat hunt to make it worth it. No ducks, No doves...praying for a deer!
