Settles Ford

Postby rock8888 » Sun Oct 29, 2006 8:22 am

Went out there yesterday to scout and it is dry as the sahara. Found a couple of wet spots and actually flushed up about 6 ducks. I think they were gadwalls.

Anyone hunt out there very much? I found some potholes that are not in the pool areas on the map. Is it legal to hunt those, or is waterfowl hunting only allowed in the pool areas. Did not want to tromp around too much int he woods since it was youth deer hunt and I did not have orange.

Thinking of trying poague or settles ford on opening weekend and avoiding the crowds at four rivers..etc.

Don't have a boat though so poague might be out of the running.

Thanks.

The uper hole at Pogue can be quite productive w/o a boat. Those pits are a hard walk to and very narrow, so you can easily shoot across.
I'll start treating my wife as good as my dog when she starts fetching ducks.
