anybody have any ideas on how to hide in a thin patch of catails

Is it in water or are you on dry ground? What is behind said cattails? Any other vegetation around to contribute to the cattails? Is it in the middle of a marsh? Need a little more info to help out.

If you have access to others cut them low to the ground and zip tie them to 1x1 stakes. Stick the transplants in the mud around your existing patch of cattails. That's how I do it.

public, I'd make a little blind out of the existing cattails and hunker in low.

private I would build a blind that can stay and add a few grass mats and attach some real cattails.
