Anybody seeing or killing ducks around the Gobler area? I'll be there in a week. Thanks

Bring your skates and hockey stick, ice should be just about right in a week.

Things will be real tough there the next week or so.

When the rice fields freeze up tight like they will the next few days we usually see very little if any movement.

Long days in the pit staring at empty skies. The warm up will start next Thursday (plus rain to help melt the ice) so it should be open again by the weekend. Hopefully your trip lasts through the 11th at least.

Good luck!

up here around Columbia all the geese moved out, we hunted on 1/1/14 and I limited out with another 9 geese killed that hunt. saw probably 4-500 birds. went to work that friday, a lake I watch at work had 3 sawns on it NO geese. Usually there are upwards of 300.

I suspect they all moved South due to the approaching, now here snow and cold.

this was on Monday Dec 30th. on 1/3 this place was empty. and the past few years they are here all winter.

Birds where on that lake pictured^ today. all of them sleeping and resting, and this is the first time that lake has froze solid this year. only about 40 geese on it. Swans moved on too. first time I had even seen geese since 1/2/14. they'll be moving around a good bit tomorrow I think with temps suppose to be in the upper 20's possibly low 30's. They'll be feeding, along with possibly some new birds coming in.

who are you coming in to hunt with, dirty rice or fallin feathers... I will say this, if you are there for the thaw you better bring extra shells.. if you are there during the freeze you better buy extra clothes, cause no ducks will move when every inch of water is froze solid to the ground
