If any of you ever get the chance to climb inside a freshly pumped out septic tank and muck around. Pass on it. It sounds way more fun than it is!
Spent all day and $500 getting a clogged sewer line fixed. It was awsome!
....its like taking x-lax when you have a bad cough. It wont clear up your lungs, but it sure stops you from coughing

HA! Welcome to my world. Other peoples poop is my bread and butter.
We manufacture Level II waste water systems. On occasion I have to
go to failed systems to replace them with ours. Not pleasant at all.

Owning two houses that have to pump doo doo uphill to get to their leach fields, I have been in the situation you describe. My favorite is having to bear hug the stack of pipes and pump while you try to pull this heavy assembly out of the tank and onto the ground so that you can work on it.
It's almost worth paying someone to do it, whatever it costs.
