From Pintails to Mallards, share your Montana duck hunting stories here in the land of the Big Sky country.
Years and years ago I hunted on Lee Metcalf. I didn't do well. A number of times I didn't even have one bird to shoot at. Since my budget can not accommodate running all over western Montana pulling a duck boat, I decided to check the refuge this morning around 11:30. Met one young man who had returned to his truck with a limit of ducks. He said his two friends did very well, but wanted to stay and fill their limits. Drake mallards and Widgeon graced his tailgate. It is closed Monday and Thursday to waterfowl hunting. Good thing I saved my decoy carrier. The blinds are huge. He said to bring netting, as some of the blinds are in bad shape. Dogs have to be kept on leash on the trails to the blind. This seems unreasonable if you are carrying all your gear. Nonetheless, I am happy to give it a try since it is only five miles from my house posting.php?mode=post&f=41#
