would have been awsome if it was a drake, but... two for one, my first pin tail, and my first band

Congrats on the band. My only banded bird was a pin. Shot it 60 miles from the Mexican border. Was banded 5 years before in northern Alaska. Have only seen one banded bird shot in MT. Took a guy on his first ever duck hunt. First bird he shoots was a banded mallard. Week after I shot my banded pin years ago met a guy that shot a banded teal also near Mexican border. His was banded in southern Alaska one week before. Long trip for that teal.

That's pretty cool. Farthest band I have shot in MT was from Peace River Alberta.

Congrats on your firsts. Maybe we'll start getting some more pinnies around here. Can't remember the last fully plumed drake I shot.

I'm not above shooting a brown duck or two! I bagged her up and put in freezer, figured, if I shoot a bull sprig this season (ha), ill get em mounted, but if not, I mightt get the band put on a GWT I'm getting mounted, so I don't lose my first band!
