First band in MT

Postby Deer Lodge Josh » Sat Jan 07, 2012 8:54 pm

Dropped a drake mallard today and when my buddys dog brought it to the blind I saw something I have never seen on a bird I shot in MT, a band on its leg. My first banded duck in MT after hunting here for 8 seasons.

Now the info says something about this season the the warm weather and few new birds. I shot this bird by dillon. It was banded this past August in Idaho. So this bird never had to fly south. Instead it actually flew 90 miles north since summer.

Only my second band ever in 20 years of shooting ducks. Will be back out tomorrow. Maybe I will get lucky and get another. Maybe this one from even further south coming to the warm sunny weather in MT.

Congrats on your band. It makes it something special when it doesn't happen very often.
Everything I say is so damn good you need to quote it for your signature.
