Finally shot a decent Buck

Postby TopWop » Sat Nov 24, 2012 12:18 am

For years my Uncle and I have gone Waterfowl hunting
on Thanksgiving morning. Some how a few years ago it
turned into Deer hunting. I'm not much of a Deer hunter,
or a very good shot with a rifle. I did manage to get this
Buck Thursday morning. He's not THE biggest, but he's the
biggest I've ever shot. Ranged at 286 yds and one shot.
My Uncle and I laughed because the first deer I shot a few
years ago. I shot in the foot. That then limped in front of
another hunter that shot it in the guts with a 12 gauge slug.
Somehow I ended up tagging it. Anyway this 4 point is a long
way from that day.

Nice Buck!
The man banging on the door kept yelling "Alcohol, Tobbaco, and Firearms!" I just assumed it was more supplies.

Congrats!
Rest in Peace, Ryder. Boy, you went before your time, in the start of your prime. You were loyal and are missed.

Thanks guys, I was pretty pleased with him.
Hunting with my Uncle that built that rifle
for my Dad then handed down to me was
the best part. It's built on an old Springfield
action, 03-A3.

Thought that looked like the firing pin knob on an 03, I also shoot a sporterized 03 Springfield, from the looks of it that's a bsa contender mounted to the rail, if so we shoot the exact same setup...

You are correct Sir! It is a BSA Contender.

No idea on the score, more of a personal trophy.
Probably do a simple plaque mount.
