Another First for me!

Postby montana bound » Fri Nov 30, 2012 12:38 pm

Went out to do a quick check of my small trap line on the property. I had a snare set in a fresh den site up the side of a hill.
The last two mornings nothing, this morning Im walking up the draw and I can see the set, well the den hole looks like a bomb went off.
At closer inspection I see a fresh mound of dirt a few ft from the hole and my snare is leading right into it.
I pull on the snare and the snare pulls back(Its alive) so I start the tug of war with little effect. I go back to the house and get a shovel and start to dig , but as Im removing dirt the animal pushes more out the hole faster then Im removing it. I went back to the house and got a pick and started to dig where I thought the tunnel was. It took me about 2 hours to finally unearth this Badger my first and the hardest catch of my life. :lol3:

Very nice. One of the few animals around here that I've never seen alive.
I'm the type of guy who "cups" his hand over his butt, farts, and dishes it out like a soup kitchen.

Can you imagine a grey and white tasmanian devil only larger , harnessed behind the shoulders with a steel leash .

That's what he looked like alive after I dug him out and he was pissed. :lol3:

First one I ever caught, I walked up on this huge mound of dirt with a *** happened here?. I couldnt figure it out so started digging with my trowel. When I hit something soft I thought something had killed the animal I had traped and buried it. LOL figured it out pretty quick after that.

They are supper fun when you catch them in a bobcat set with a trap on 8 feet of chain and a drag. They just keep digging an diggin and diggin
