I've hunted in that exact same spot, recently in fact. Even looks like my damn dog.

Think these from earlier this week were even taken in a similiar spot somewhere in the state.

Yea kinda funny how you were saying the next drake widgeon was mine, then when a drake and hen come in you shoot the drake and ask why I didn't shoot the other drake. Then say "I thought it was two drakes". Anybody that has ever hunted with Paul knows he spots ducks coming in at about a mile off, then tells you witch ones are drakes at about half a mile, but for some reason couldn't tell a drake widgeon from a hen this time. Seemed fishy to me.

I still think there were 2 drakes and the fact that someone missed their bird is the problem. I also recall someone hollering out "shoot the drake Widgeon" (as it floated past at 25 yards)at one point that diddnt bear fruit.

Next one is all yours....unless me or Pete shoot it first

Very Nice Wigeon for sure guys!! I can't believe how many have hung in this year. We got it done to quick this morning. While picking up an absolute stud rolled by on the tail end of a small flock of mallards. I would have traded every duck I killed this week for that one. Oh well................................

Wasn't planning to hunt today. I was curious as to what
the weather may have brought in so I took a drive.
I saw a bunch of birds sitting on a piece of open water
near the river, which was slushed up. I decided to grab
my gun and Rockhead and jump shoot em for one last
hoorah. Well, we didn't even get close before they spooked.
As I watched them and realized that was about the only
piece of open water around, they started coming back already.
I decided to grab my gear and set up. All my rubber ducks were
frozen together from being left in my rig. I managed to get
six of them and my swimmin' ducks set up. I dropped my Mojo
in the water and that ceased to work along with my fingers.
I was where the birds wanted to be, that's all that mattered.

Image
I was cold and sick as hell, so I didn't pay attention to which way the birds were facing

Image
Took better pics when I got home

My first Montana Pintail!

Image
Rocki did awesome

Image
She struggled with the goose, didn't quite know what to make of it or how to grab it. She did real
well all day! If I could just get her to be like that in a group with other dogs...
Great way to end the season!

If rocky did a good job I am assuming there was no current in the water that he had to swim across. And another hen? What the crap dude?

How many shells Top Wop? Beauty Pinnie, that's a mounter for sure

I shot 2 bands in 3 hunts. 1 was an accidental hen as missed a drake & she was behind him apparently. Had no idea it was banded till after the hunt.

Gret season folks!!!

Nope no current. Not that that would have mattered this
time since I fixed her vest problem. She even got to make
retrieves when she was sent. Didn't have to fight any other
dog for her bird. The Hen was a two fer one. I didn't even
shoot a half a box of shells today, all I had was 2 3/4 #4's.

I hunt mostly public and yes its way badass. Especially compared to NH and Maine where I grew up hunting. Course we dont see many eiders or black ducks.

ps I'll trade you every duck in that sink for one lobsta
