My brother came in from Washington state this thanksgiving. He ask if there was any good goose hunting here??? Well, I took him to a Canyon Ferry area, and what a day it was. Right at day brake the geese started to fly. We took a few, then our deeks froze in place. He had never seen anything like that. It turned out to be a great day, and he is ready for another trip. He asked if the geese and ducks stay on frozen lakes? I don't know being a resent transplant myself. Can someone answer this for me? Thanks and great hunting

I have seen them stay on frozen ponds, but there has to be some good eating nearby. Otherwise they are looking for some open water.

The geese will hang on the south end thru the season. They roost on the ice if there isnt any water. If the fields get to snow covered they head out though.
