Hart and I had a great season ending hunt this morning. To say it was cold was an understatement. It was -21 at my house in town so it was likely -25 or less on the creek we were hunting. We ended the season with 2 limits consisting of 10 mallards (9 drakes and 1 hen), a widgeon and a nice gaddie. I intentionally shot a hen as my taxidermist buddy needed one for a display in the Shields store in Great Falls. The action was red hot at first. I think we shot 10 birds in the first 20 min of the hunt and we were packed up and back at the truck by a little past 9. Mark, aka Hart, took a few pics that should illustrate the temps nicely. I think for once the dogs wanted to go home before we did. It was a great ending to a mediocre duck season for us. I can’t believe its over all ready. How many days till next season? Pics comming soon.
Here is how we finished our season on a very cold day (-10). This year was very strange, not many ducks but alot of geese. Next year I will be in Bozeman, so I will be in new territory wich should be fun. Bring on the yotes!
Here's the pics Hutch was talking about. Great way to end the season !!!
