Trappings done Now what?..Fishing? Turkeys?

Postby phutch30 » Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:34 am

Sold my fur on Sat was pretty happy. Not as happy as I would have been if I sold in Jan but happy none the less. Here is a pic of my long hair fur. I also had a bunch of rats, some beaver and about a doz coon that are not in the picture. Not a great picture as we were rushed, the wind was howling and the sun reflecting off the snow was blinding.LOL The full view cat was my worse bellied cat and I had tried to hide it with the better cats showing but the wind decided otherwise.Oh well.
The prices werent too bad
Cats- $227 average(I had one ugly C belly and one milk stained female which hurt the average). low $120, high 368
coyotes $38.50 ave low 20, high 60
fox $18 ave low 12-high 25
coon $11 ave
rats 3.90 ave
beaver
blankets $28 ave
not blankets 10 ave

So lets see what did I use this $$ on so far?
Benelli SBE-check
Dinner out with the wife-Check
New tires-check
New arrows-check
New ground blind for bowhunting turkeys-check
%$#*&^!!!!!! Bills-check

That's great! I would like to get into trapping again, but just don't know where to get started. I used to trap coons in Nebraska and that usually payed for the licenses for the season and then a box or two of shells, never made enough to buy a new gun! Hot dang! Nice work.

Could you educate a non-fisherman? Granted there's a bunch of ways to prepare fish, but how's the eating?

Duckrunner, they are great smoked and decent eating on the grill. Kind of like salmon, but not as good. By the time we are catching them they're 500 miles from the ocean and close to where they're going to spawn. They're colored up a bit and have at this point expended a lot of energy towards reproduction. They're not as fun to catch as fresh ones on the coast and they don't taste as good. Better than sitting at home though.
