I am kinda new to the area. About an hour NE of missoula. I am not looking for anybodys prime spots. But general areas to scout. As i said I am new here and also to turkey hunting. Any ideas would help.

There is good hunting in the bitterroot valley some on the forest some on private. Youll have to drive the roads and locate some birds. There are several permit areas near you but they deadline to apply has gone by. There are alot of birds in the Snowys, some in the missouri breaks, lots of birds in Custer and long pines in the eastern part of the state.

Naw. I usually make a couple trips to the yellowstone an/or custer area. Im going to dust one on opening weekend and then its bowhunting. I am not real familiar with the turkeys in the bitteroot. I know there are a bunch over there though.

I was out playing with birds between dillon and whitehall this weekend. I found 14 differnt toms. I have permission on on property near silver star if I can ever draw a %$%#@ region 3 tag. Anyway there is a nice flock on there. I called in 3 different adult toms. One was a really nice bird. Oh well there safe from me for another year.
