Hunting trip

Postby waterfowl101 » Wed Oct 09, 2013 10:00 am

I was thinking of planning a trip to Nebraska this year for some duck and goose hunting. I've been searching all over the internet for some information but can't find much. I have a few questions for anyone that can help.
1.what would be the best area for public water and field hunting.
2. What time of year?
Thanks

sometime in december when i would have the best chance at field and water hunting geese and mallards. I was thinking around the grand island or columbus area. Im gonna have 2 possibly 3 in the party, and we will be hunting for at least 4 days

I'm not going to post areas to hunt, but instead guide you to the public atlas access in case you aren't aware of it. There is lots of public land in Nebraska, but it can get busy during weekends. If you instead hunt during the week you won't have much competition. Also be prepared with multiple spots since some areas (especially marsh/wetlands) can be frozen solid in December if it is a cold year. Good luck!
