New rifle?????

Postby creationchris » Mon Jul 23, 2012 9:18 am

Any feed back would be great.......looking to pick up a .270. Stuck between the rem 700, savage 11/111, and the howa. All roughly the same price- Putting new glass on it so don't take that into consideration.

I have 2 Remington Model 700's One in a 300 win mag and the other in a 7mm ultra mag. Great guns. Never had any problems at all with either of them. Just my 2cents

All 3 are great rifles. Here's my 2 cents, nothing shoots better out of the box than a Savage. The 111 is a quality rifle. If you are seriously looking at the Savage, check out the AT system they officer. The extra $100 is WELL worth it (IMO). I'm buying a new .300 Win Mag this year for my Elk hunt, I'll be gettin that exact rifle. Scheels in Reno has em for $499 with the AT and a Nikon 3x9x40. I'm switching out the Nikon and puttin some higher end glass on the rifle. I think you would be very happy with the Savage. All of mine have been great shooters!!!

My vote (although not on your list) is for a Ruger M77. Got one in .308 and it's my favorite rifle I own. Very Accurate and I love the mauser-style action. Not much more on price either. Otherwise go with the 700.

I got 2 Savages for my 2 kids and they handled it with them growing up. One of my kids has given up on hunting (moved to Cali) so I am using it this year thats how confident I am with it. .270 great choice for deer

Go with the Savage I have the same one with Acu Trigger and I love it. Put it through a beating and still looks/shoots fine.

I would go with the savage if you want a out of the box shooter.I have built a few rem 700 and they are great like a jeep is once you put the money in them.Bought one savage and it was the best factory gun no matter what I feed it.You are looking to put a extra three hundred dollars into a remington to get what is stock in a savage. accu stock and trigger is a great system for the money.

Thanks for all the input! Looks like I will be adding another savage to my collection to go with the model 110 I have.

Just bought the Savage 111 in .300 Win Mag from Scheels on Friday. Paid $289.00 and thats with a Bushnell 3x9x40mm scope. Took the scope off and added some new high quality glass. Haven't shot it yet, but I'm sure its a shooter!!!
