I know we are all getting excited about waterfowl, but who on here is getting excited about chuckar to open? If anyone is interested in chuckar hunting on the 17th of october PM me and we will get a group to go out to a spot where were have seen some birds while dove hunting for an afternoon hunt. If you have never chuckar hunted before you will have a great time. So if you are interested just send me a PM.

Thanks,
Pinny

I'm new to southern Nevada this year and I am looking forward to cooler temps so the dogs and I can get out and do some scouting (not internet forum style scouting, the good old fashioned kind). I like hunting chukars and have hunted them on game preserves before. Looking forward to hunting natural cover and terrain and wild birds).

Have gotten skunked on doves and never tried chukar. At 68 am not too hot on running uphill but understand the birds come down to water mid-morning...I'd love to hook up with avid hunters.

Can be reached at basull@sbcglobal.net or try 775+453-9348.

Good luck on the Chukar. Does not look good this year. Had my son out on the youth hunt. All birds were carry overs from last year, were flushing at 40 yards. Seen no young birds. Alot of the water holes that usually have water were dry. Hunted the same spot in Northern Washoe, last year my son limited out in about an hour. Nothing this year.

I invested in a guzzler map last year, they are great maps. As for the water yes its going to be a tough year especially early due to the dry year but i have seen a lot of birds on water scouting, not a lot of young but we should be fine due to the fact that last year was a great year. Lets just hope for the best

They came out with a new guzzler map.... It is much easier to use the old one was black and white and hard to read. This new one is full color

The new guzzler map has GPS coordinates...Why would someone pay you for the map when they could buy it and support the NDOW?

Because I have spent countless hours turning them into waypoints by zone mountain range etc. you buy it it goes straight onto your gps Sure anyone can do it some might like to buy cause of the time saved it is a choice.

That's beside the point. My point is hunters should support the people building the guzzlers and put money back into our resources.

You should have been a bit more specific if that was your point. Sorry I did not mention that I have participated in building the guzzlers around this state seems like every year a wise person always has to try and start some big deal chill out buddy. We still have a small bit of capitalism left in this country and it is well within my right to create revenue for a product that people may or may not want to buy.

That's good you volunteer, but you aren't paying for the guzzlers, NDOW is. If we want more we should support them. It's the ethical thing to do.

I don't see why we need more.................

As it is the roads in the RnoSparks area all have gates and locks on them, All the roads I used to go after chuckar are a thing of the past now.............................30 miles to get to a road now.

It does no good to have gusslers if you can't get to them with gates and land closures.

With the lack of water we have had this past winter it doesn't matter if you can get to them or not. Its the fact that the birds have a water source to sustain populations. Guzzlers are great for early season hunting, but the fact that birds can be located near them is merely a perk, not their purpose.
