Haven't been out there this week. If it's anything like last week, good luck on a limit...

Just because there's a storm doesn't mean we're getting new waves of waterfowl. This storm was for the most part, a south or southwest storm. It may stir the pot for local birds a little, but nothing new is going to show up. Would you decide to run a marathon in a 50 mph headwind instead of waiting it out?

The Key is FREEZE!! Birds don't migrate to take a vacation. They head south when their food and water freezes up. They'll stay north all winter if that don't happen!

Exactly! Nothing buy open water up north right now. Need a good hard week long freeze to push northern birds down. Not to mention to push birds into feeding in fields here. Can't wait to start some field hunting.

Not many ducks in MT right now either. We'll see what happens this weekend

Surveys are reporting 750,000 mallards still in SD. Granted, those birds aren't destined for here, but puts it in perspective for the potential for birds up north.

I'm not a weather guy but the problem where we live is when it freezes 500 miles north it freezes here. All you get is birds passing by some stay most go right on by. I see the dilema every year so don't pray too hard for a freeze and freezes us out the rest of the year pray for the perfect freeze up north and not here but not likely

The last two years it froze hard at Stillwater in November. The rest of the season was pretty dismal even after the thaw. West Nutgrass froze last but then it literally froze overnight. By the time it thawed the birds were gone. :crying:

Went out and sat in the fog for a few hours today. Lots of swan. Very few ducks, definitely nothing flying. Heard two or three shots. Didn't even pull the trigger.

Had the same problem today as well, low fog no ducks and a lot of mud. Nutgrass had some crazy mud. Jumped some mallards walking in but once my bud and I set up, nadda. Heard probably 10-12 shots on the day.

We walked in off West Parking to the dike between North and West NGrass. MUDDY! We popped a few going in but never saw another duck until we were walking out. We ran into the manager on the way out and she said it's been pretty thin. Most guys are looking for swan. She also said the swan tags are gone. I waited too long!
