Greenhead water situation

Postby Gooseslayer530 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 2:30 am

Does anyone have any current updates with the water out in greenhead? I heard they maybe only have sprig opened for the opener?

I was out there 2 weeks ago and sprig was only pond with water and it was at best 5 inches deep tons of shore birds if they don't add water forget it unless you field hunt. Lahontan stopped taking water orders earlier than expected they are going to fill the current orders and that will drop it down to 4,000 acre feet. I cannot find out if greenhead is one of the ones they are currently going to fulfill. Stillwater is no better

Water deliveries will stop in approximately 6 days
No more water with the exception of limited drain flows will be available.
All this is due to the reservoir shutting down 2 months early normal shut off date is Nov 15
The irrigation district stated in late August that water would be available until Oct 1
They were incorrect Apparently

I live right at the Lake Lahontan. Have been for almost 20 years and I have never seen it this low. I walk all round with my GPS making humps amd holes for fishing next year. Found half a 5 gallon bucket of lures, hooks and weights.

Nice find!
We wont even go there with my backyard lake. Ol' Washoe Lake is not looking too good. Without some moisture, we will be skipping rocks across the North end!
