If the government doesn't get it together before opener Stillwater won't be open. Thought I'd give a heads up.

Its a bummer that Stillwater could potentially be closed. That means Mason, Greenhead, the rivers are all going to be PACKED.

If the water situation wasn't already a problem...hopefully they figure this out before then or it's going to be a frustrating morning for most.

I am not gonna get into politics, but it is plain STUPID!
All I am gonna say about that.
As far as overcrowding on opener, we might be surprised. I think quite a few will opt for hiking the hills.
And if it does get crowded at Mason, been there and done that. The older I get, the less I stress over it.
I will still have a good time and make the best of it. I got me some shot proof blind material on the
Boat!

Just curious, but I don't recall seeing a gate and if the employees aren't working who's going to tell anyone to leave? I wouldn't go there, but some might.

My FiL went out to Stillwater yesterday and there's just a barricade across the road at the turnoff to Canvasback. They didn't go past that.

I would imagine there will be law enforcement making sure no one is going in there and especially next weekend if it's still closed. Probably would issue trespassing tickets too, but on the bright side it'll be like opening day all over again when it opens.

amink, Just think, you paid for a Federal duck stamp and probably have for a few years but you can't hunt the NWR. The Gov. is not the problem they are the whole problem. Oh yea, don't forget to get your state AIS sticker as well so you are ready when they do open the gates. The federal properties are owned by the people not the federal Gov. just administered by them. If they have people to enforce the closure then someone must be manning the store so I say BS to that place not being open. What good is a Gov. shutdown if they still get paid. It sounds like a paid vacation will be screwing the public once again. Taxation without representation. Hope you find a place to hunt, no wonder young people don't want to get into hunting w/all the BS and taxation.
Shoot often,

So if the federal hunting areas are closed...................
do we need to buy a federal duck stamp for this year ??

or can we get by with just a state stamp ?

Any ideas..............

Ya. Where'd you hear that? Called Stillwater and their voicemail says they are closed until the shutdown ends, and even though it's federal, I also called NDOW and they said the same thing.
