How were things at Mason Valley this morning?

I woke up at 230 thought about it and went back to sleep. I'm sure some had a good shoot. I checked the water thursday and it wasn't too great.

GREAT! Sky was black with mallard at the morning and night shoot. Limited out by 9am on duck and stayed for the night shoot for a shot at geese and nailed my first Canadian. Duck count was all mallard, 5 drake & 2 hen. Will up load photos tmr. Got some good video too.

^ don't know about all that unless you have pictures... Talked today with the manager out there and it was about a 2.5 bird average. Best group was 4 guys, 14 birds in the morning. My group was 5 and 21 birds but that was the morning and afternoon hunt. Not as many people showed up as they thought. Going out this afternoon again but not expecting much. Hopefully our elected "leaders" get this thing figured out so everyone else can get their wader itch fix in Fallon.

Guess my eyesight is failing--I see 4 drakes and 2 hens. And the hen next to the drake--I've never seen a gray billed hen mallard before. Interesting. Still, a fine harvest.

Looks like an eclipsed drake mallard to me but I could be wrong.

The 5th drake was headless and not in the pic for obvious reasons. The hen with the gray bill is a mallard but young, asked a warden friend after that was pointed out. He said its rare but being seen more. The rest of the color and markings matched. You guys had me thinking I ended up with a mixed bag!
