Made it to Stillwater on Friday to sneak in a hunt before the weekend. Limited out with a mixed bag by around 815. Went back out on Saturday with a buddy and collectively we pulled a limit, mostly teal. We set up real early in anticipation of the crowds and we could hear huge flocks migrating out before shooting time. Things seem to shutdown much earlier than Friday. We hung around until 1030 and there wasn't a bird in the sky.
I don't know about Stillwater but right next door four of us shot limits of sprig and I saw the most I have ever seen in Lahonton Valley on one single body of water. They are differently there with a bunch of teal. They are the most prevalent birds that I had seen shot the first two weekends of the season. Don't know why there not at Stillwater? maybe no food over there?
Shoot often,

Highscrapper were you guys hunting Lahontan Lake or did you mean Canvasback itself or just somewhere around there? I just want to shoot a big bull sprig to get it mounted. I shot one about ten years ago other then that I haven't seen many around. However I usually hunt areas that aren't geared for birds like that. I also heard one shot at Stillwater last weekend. We could trade a hunt down here in the Carson Valley for a hunt at your sprig spot. Shoot me a pm if you are interested I have some great spots down here.
