Shad fishing

Postby Sagebrush » Tue May 06, 2014 9:39 am

If you like to fish for Shad ......

They are here..........
now coming up the Sacramento river .

Water is low in some launch areas and sand bar's just under the water, so take care if launching.

Chartruse is the best color fly/jig this year with white or pink as a back up.
good fishing.

Yes, I like Shad on the end of the line..............
either a fly rod or a light spin rod with 4-6lb test is lots of fun.

They are at Verona right now but move upstream, with the "Main Body" behind and then finally, the end of the run,
that comes in about two months later or more. I usually stop at Grimes in my chase.

If you hit it right you can have a 30-40 fish day 4-6 hours.
