I'm being sent down there in a week for training for a new job. Is there any fishing right now that is close to town? I'll have the afternoon off, so I would like to try.
Actually there is a little to be had. Sunset park has a little pond that holds a few fish(bluegill, sunnies, rainbows, and catfish). There might be a few more in there but im not too sure. Lake Mead isn't TOO far but its a little drive(45 mins or so). I know you can catch some pretty nice stripers and largemouths in there. But your closest bet would be Sunset.
Hey ODG,
check out this page it has great descriptions of the urban ponds and the fish in them.
i want to get down there to try for some of the carp, let me know how you do.

Thanks, Tom. When I get back I'll call you and we'll go somewhere. The carp in Lahontan will be up in about a month. So will the Walleye and Wipers. The Catfish will be up by May. We can go down to Weber the middle of April for Bass, Catfish and Crappie.
I've been itchin for finding some Walleye here in nevada ever since moving from minnesota and fishing for them pretty much all the time. I had(in my and a few other opinion) one of the best walleye fisheries in all the US(Mille Lacs Lake). And dang do they ever taste GREAT!! ODG please do let me know how you do. Id be interested in taking my lady down to do a lil fishing sometime this spring before it gets TOO hot!
Will do DUCK. I'm taking the boat to the lake Sunday morning and see if the fishing has started. I'll let you all know.
