It is (was) a seagull. I went out surfing after Irene and when I jumped out of the car noticed the jewelry under my tire. The bird was already dead. Mu buddy gave me a seriously strange look when I asked for pliers while examining the bird (he doesn't hunt).

Thats crazy, I had no idea they tagged seagulls. Why would they do that?

"I" found my second bad in much the same way. Pulled the kayak over to let the dog out to take a piss. She jumped on to shore, squatted, and before she finished immediately went in to search mode. Three jumps later she is on her way back to the yak with a dead drake mallard. She gets next to the boat and I command "drop" (it looked very dead and I didn't want it in the boat), when she dropped it, I noticed the bling. I removed the band and went to throw the thing back in the bushes, then I recalled our local neighborhood scavenger, a very mature bald eagle, so I paddle out to the channel and dropped it in the water. Paddled along another 200 yards and I saw the eagle come down and get what was left of him.

got the results back today....it's a resident sky rat. Banded at the Isle of Shoals last spring.

I've gotten a band each of the past two seasons....hopefully this doesn't count as my band for this upcoming season.
