1st day of Youth Season

Postby Benny8 » Sat Sep 24, 2011 11:08 am

Kwacker and I got the kids out this morning. They did a great job helping us deploy the blinds and setup the decoys. The only downfall of the morning was the warm teperatures and the swarm of mosquitos. We all sweat getting stuff ready. We saw quite a few birds, but we were definitely not on the X. It turned into pass shooting instead of decoying. Zach dropped a nice eclipse drake mallard, and Coli missed a couple times. All in all, it was a great time. The kids had a lot of fun, as well as us. Safety was and is always top priority with us, and the kids performed perfectly. We came home after picking up, had a good breakfast, and headed back out for some jump shooting. We will definetly be back out in the morning.

We went out to a little channel this morning. Another sweatfest on the way out. The mosquitos were worse here than yesterday. Zach shot a hen woodie with Coli having no shots. We called it an early day due to heat and bugs. Not only were we getting hammered, but the dogs were swelling up as well. We will get Coli her first bird yet, but it will be during the regular season.
