Quick morning hunt...

Postby deertoducks » Tue Oct 02, 2012 6:36 pm

I was able to get out for the first 45 min of legal shooting this am before heading off to my first appointment of the day. Didnt see a ton of birds but the ones that around worked the 2 decoys and mojo I put out, Pete was able to make four retrieves one being a blind I had to cast him to on a cripple that I just caught skulling away, I got him in the area I last saw it and sat back and enjoyed watching him use his nose to get to the bird, then the chase was on, after the fifth time of dunking his head, he came up with it. To me, watching the dog work is the main reason I duck hunt.

Pete with todays efforts

Totally agree on the dog working! My female yellow lab, Belle, has on average about 6 retrieves a year. She has a thin coat and I don't hunt her much late season or in the water. She has 6 retrieves already and tonights blind retrieve was awesome. She is in her 4th hunting season and she is a machine right now. Sorry for Hijacking. Congrats on your sucess
